Department honors M.A. program graduates (May 2010). On May 6th, the History department honored the second graduating class of the Master of Arts in History program at High Point University. Kelly Burchette (left), Jonathan Gay (center), and Tamara Koontz (right) successfully completed the requirements for a Master of Arts in History.

As part of these requirements, each student was expected to write and defend a thesis in their major area of study. Gay's thesis was entitled "Taiping Ideology: Doctrine and Practice," and defended in December. Koontz's thesis "The Role of Airpower in Counterinsurgency During the Twentieth Century: Case Studies From the United States Air Force and Israeli Air Force" and Burchette's thesis "The French Campaign for Control of the Red River: 1871-1873," were defended in April.
