Seniors Present Research at University Honors
Day Symposium (April
2007). Each Spring, High
Point University's Honor's Program sponsors a half-day academic
conference highlighting excellence in undergraduate research at the
university. Four students from the History
Department had papers selected for inclusion in this year's symposium:
Christine Elliott (PSC): “Franco-French
Contempt for Muslins and Media Framing.”
Elizabeth Imhoff (HST): “Planters and
Their Places in Early America.”
Justin
Quinlivan (PSC): “Are American youths
Susceptible to Becoming
Jihadist?: The Gang Example”
Amanda Roberts (HST): “The Subaltern Shouts in
The God of Small Things.”
Three of these student projects drew from senior
thesis research. All seniors in the History
Department at High Point complete a thesis as part of their majors'
required course work. The thesis project is undertaken in close
collaboration with one or more faculty members and is presented to the
department's faculty and the public prior to graduation.
