History Senior Presents Original Research Paper at Big South Academic
Conference (April
2007).
Jonathan Amos, a history and secondary education major,
was one of a select group of High Point seniors to
have a paper accepted for the Big
South Undergraduate Research Symposium at Coastal Carolina University
on March 24. His well received presentation
was based on the senior seminar project he
completed in the fall semester entitled “Ordinaries to Public Houses:
Tavern Changes in the Eighteenth-Century American Upper South.”
Jonathan is currently student teaching at Reagan High School in
Forsyth County.
All seniors in the History
Department at High Point complete a thesis as part of their majors'
required course work. The thesis project is undertaken in close,
one-on-one collaboration with a faculty member and is presented to the
department's faculty and the public prior to graduation.
